are you guys having a water shortage or anything?
I don’t think so. At least not an unusual shortage. I mean, they’ve been saying we’re in kind of a “drought” for several years, now, but the deer just started being more bold than normal this year. I wouldn’t be surprised if the weird weather we’ve been having this year had something to do with it, though.

The deer in my neighborhood are getting more and more brazen. They only used to come out at dawn or dusk, or the middle of the night. But I’ve been seeing them in full daylight a lot lately. They just don’t give a shit. They still run away if approached, though.

Saw lots of wildlife out and about, today. Or at least more, earlier in the day, than normal. A buck ran across our front yard when I went out to the garage to throw a can in the recycling bin. Later, I saw a small group of other deer hanging out down on the street down near where I park my car.
Earlier, I also saw a fox nonchalantly trotting down the sidewalk — next to rush hour traffic in downtown Fairfax. It looked like it was having a fun adventure.

Deer in Nara, Japan, are revered as holy messengers of God and are allowed to roam freely. They are well known for their bowing gestures for food.

There’s a deer in my neighborhood who has lost the use of one of his rear legs. Possibly due to being hit by a car, or something. But he appears completely healthy, otherwise. I see him about once a year, with new antler-points each time.
I turned on the porch lights late last night and saw him eating some plants in front of the house, all the time edging closer and closer to a doe who was doing the same. For some reason, this gives me hope that I will get laid again, ever, sometime in my life.
