Hurricane Sandy update:

I lived. The skylight didn’t start leaking or anything. Our power only went out once, for a few seconds, and not even during the strongest parts of the storm.

Seriously? That unexpected derecho we had in July caused all kinds of problems; we didn’t have power for four days, and no AC for a week in the middle of a record heatwave. But a huge hurricane we actually have time to prepare for? All stocked-up on bottled water, candles, and flashlight batteries? Nothing. Nothing happened.

I’m sure there are trees down in the area, and people who have yet to get their power back on. But in my neighborhood… there’s just lots of leaves and twigs on the ground.

I guess I feel relieved. Kinda worried about some of my friends further north I haven’t heard from yet.
