I’m wondering if Evangelion 4.0 is going to take place in that mirror/imaginary universe from The End Of Evangelion, where they’re all normal schoolkids and families and none of the Impact stuff ever happened. And they’re going to spend the whole movie dealing with the kinds of problems normal people have, and wishing something exciting would happen. And it never will. But there will be all sorts of references to the horrible things that happen(ed) to them in the “real” storyline, which they will of course totally ignore. The last scene will be Shinji lying in bed in the dark, staring at the ceiling, listening to his Walkman, and the tape will finish and click over to side B, and the screen will go black.
