klaatu: Gibraltar airport True fact.  There was nowhere else the runway would fit.  So every time a plane has to land or take off, they have these gates that come down and stop traffic on the main road (like at a drawbridge or railroad crossing… except that what’s happening in the middle is a lot louder and faster).
